A belly cast or belly mask is a plaster mold of your pregnant belly, which highlights this very special time in your life. Celebrate the beauty of your blossoming shape by capturing this moment with a cast that will last a lifetime. Your shape can’t truly be depicted through a photo or a movie. A belly cast is able to go one step beyond traditional ways of capturing a moment by presenting a 3-dimensional mold of your glorious tummy!
Belly casting is done in your own home to allow you as much comfort as possible. We bring everything needed for the casting right to your home; drop cloth, casting supplies and cream. We also bring a camera to capture the fun of your casting event. Casting photos make great baby book keepsakes!
The first step is to lubricate all areas that will be cast. I use a very thick cream instead of petroleum because it is less messy and does not stick to the finished cast. We then make the cast of your belly. This process takes about 30-40 minutes. Once the cast is hard enough, we remove it from your tummy. The cast is then let to dry for an additional 3 days to fully harden. A coat of primer will be applied. If you have chosen a finish, it will be applied to the cast. Once all the finishing is completed the cast can be mounted. The total in home time is about and hour. The complete finished casting process varies from 2 weeks for white casts to 4-6 weeks for finished casts.
Ever belly cast is unique and so is what you do with it. The cast can be mounted or placed in a frame. It can be unfinished or finished. You can place it on a pedestal. Some people hang it in the nursery and have it match the décor. Some proudly display the cast in a frame in their living rooms. Others turn the cast into a bowl or as a work of art. And some others have it bronzed. The possibilities are truly endless on what you can do with the cast. The real question is what CAN’T you do with the belly cast?
